Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area: Dingmans Creek Area - Milford Pennsylvania Hikes

This 70,000-acre national recreation area (NRA) spans the Pennsylvania and New Jersey shores of a 40-mile stretch of the Delaware Wild and Scenic River. At the southern end of the park, view Delaware Water Gap, where the Delaware cuts an S-shaped chasm through 1,400-foot Kittatinny Ridge. Throughout the corridor, find exceptional river recreation. Within the river’s vital watershed, hikers explore wooded slopes, the Pocono Plateau, and picturesque ravines. Sparkling waterfalls, mature eastern hemlocks, and rhododendron dress the side-creek canyons. Trails of varying length and difficulty serve NRA visitors. Two popular short trails visit the waterfall galleries along Dingmans Creek. One is at Dingmans Falls Visitor Center; the other, Fulmer Falls, is at George W. Childs Picnic Area. Special attractions: Five dramatic waterfalls, scenic Dingmans Creek, dark hemlock forests, early-July rhododendron blooms, chance wildlife sightings.
