Pine Creek Rail Trail - Wellsboro Pennsylvania Hikes

This outstanding segment of rail-trail follows the east bank of Pine Creek, exploring the belly of the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. This segment represents the flagship of an even greater proposed rail-trail that would span 62 miles between Wellsboro Junction (Pennsylvania 287) and the Jersey Shore. Special attractions: Pristine Pine Creek and its canyon, part of which is recognized as a national natural landmark; fishing for trout and smallmouth bass; nesting bald eagles; wildlife sightings (perhaps even an elusive fisher, reintroduced to the area); ferns and wildflowers; seasonal cascades; colorful fall foliage.
