Stone Valley Trail - Colton New York Hikes

This moderately difficult wooded trail rounds an exciting 3.2 mile stretch of the Raquette River. Special Attractions: waterfalls, rapids, chutes, scoured potholes, gorges, islands, and overhanging cliffs; hemlock-beech forest; cathedral pines; tannery ruin. Be alert to the possibility of rapidly rising water. In winter, expect icy spots, and some rocky stretches where an icy slip could land you in a river.
