A sharply chiseled ridgeline that parallels Main Street west of North Conway, the Moat Mountain Range displays a scruffy, thread-bare look thanks to a blend of bald rock and stunted trees that covers its upper reaches. Rising more than a thousand feet on the eastern flanks of this rugged ridge, the stark walls of Cathedral Ledge and White Horse Ledge make the Moats even more imposing. Little wonder that few hikers venture beyond Diana's Baths, a popular swimming hole, just 0.6 mile from a trailhead at the north end of the range.
