Uncanoonuc, North Peak - Goffstown New Hampshire Hikes

The Uncanoonucs,North and South, are softly shaped twin mountains prominently visible from Manchester and its immediate suburbs. Allegedly, the name Uncanoonuc derives from a Native American term for what male cartographers traditionally name such alluring double peaks. Whatever the derivation, the natural environment of Uncanoonuc North offers an outstanding hiking experience. Once off the road and into the woods, the backcountry atmosphere of this suburban summit quickly excludes any reminder that you’re still within sight of New Hampshire’s largest city. Special attractions: A sense of remote mountain hiking within sight of the state's largest city. Fine views of Goffstown, the Merrimack Valley, and miles of mountains beyond.
