Border Route - Caribou Rock Trail

OutAndBack • 7.6 mi • 0 ft

Caribou Rock Trail rewards the hiker with overlooks of West Bearskin Lake, Moss Lake, Stairway Portage, and Rose Lake. At Stairway Portage, you’ll enjoy a spectacular waterfall and see Canada’s steep 300-foot Arrow cliffs on Rose Lake’s north shore. Experience the rugged beauty of northern Minnesota’s border country on this remote Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness hike. Caribou Rock Trail is not heavily used or regularly maintained and may occasionally disappear in overgrowth. Therefore, it’s wise to carry a compass and topographical map. Day-use permits are available at trailheads. If you plan to camp overnight in the BWCAW, you’ll need to purchase an entry point permit.
