Kekionga Trail - Huntington Indiana Hikes

This is a loop trail around J. Edward Roush Lake, a flood-control reservoir on the Wabash River. After opening in 1970 as Huntington Reservoir, the lake has since been renamed in honor of former U.S. Congressman J. Edward Roush, who served the northeast Indiana district. The earthen dam was built as a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers flood-control project on the Wabash River. It is smaller than two other flood-control projects in the Upper Wabash Valley, but the 870-acre lake and surrounding 7,400-acre property provide a variety of recreational opportunities. The Kekionga Trail initially was established for hikers, but mountain bikers were granted access in 1995. Hikers still have the right of way on the trail, but be alert for these faster trail users. Special Attractions: ravines, Tah-Kum-Wah Creek, and scenic views of Roush Lake.
