Chain O'Lakes State Park - Albion Indiana Hikes

This is a connecting network of trails around a chain of glacier-formed lakes. Chain O’Lakes State Park is exactly what the name implies—a park featuring a series of 11 small lakes connected to one another by channels. The trails are wide, well-maintained, and well-marked. There are a few potentially muddy spots near the lakes. The amount of trail traffic varies. The lakes are what is left of the Pleistocene ice age, whose glaciers retreated from this area between 13,000 and 14,000 years ago. Beneath the melting glacier, streams deposited sand and gravel, while detached blocks of ice formed the steep depressions that became the kettle lakes in the park. Special Attractions: the Kettle Lake system.
