Red River Gorge End-to-End - Stanton Kentucky Hikes

This end-to-end backpack travels through the Red River Gorge Scenic Area. From Whittleton Campground at Natural Bridge State Park, the Sheltowee Trace joins national forest land and nears Whittleton Arch before crossing Bert Combs Mountain Parkway. The Sheltowee Trace then enters the official Red River Gorge Geological Area, running along high ridges with views, before dropping into Chimney Top Creek. Clear-running Chimney Top Creek cuts through richly wooded flats, making for a scenic confluence with the Red River, Kentuckys only federally designated wild and scenic waterway. From here, the Trace travels a single-track path past spectacular rockhouses and small creeks, over a rocky ridge with far off views, and by an arch. Next, enter the Clifty Wilderness near Gladie Creek, then finally climb away to end at Corner Ridge. Outstanding Features: Whittleton Arch, Red River, and Clifty Wilderness
