Deerlick Creek Combo - Tuscaloosa Alabama Hikes

Stitch together Deerlick Creek Park’s short trails and wind up with a terrific day hike. Holt Lake is the feature here for campers, but the hilly hardwood forest that lines the shore is what makes the hike worthwhile. One of four US Army Corps of Engineers parks on Holt Lake, Deerlick Creek Park is cupped in the last bend of the lake before it meets Holt Lock and Dam, which holds back the Black Warrior River to create the 18-mile-long lake. The park is a very well kept facility with modern bathhouses and level campsites. It’s a great place for RVers, but tent campers can escape the pop-ups and big rigs in a primitive camping area.
