Quaboag River: Warren to Route 67 - Warren Massachusetts Whitewater Kayaking Routes

The Quaboag is full of variety—from abrupt drops to long rapids with wave trains to a mini-gorge. Medium-sized, with rapids of sufficient power to demand great respect, the Quaboag holds its water well and is canoeable in the fall during the rainy season. There are many rapids on the Quaboag, and water level will determine the kind of run to expect. In high water less maneuvering is involved, although keeping an open boat from swamping in the many standing waves and souse holes is tough. This level offers the most challenge. Medium water exposes more rocks and makes several rapids more technical. The rapids in general are spaced by calmer water, giving the paddler ample time to rest. This trip on the Quaboag flows through several towns, so the scenery isn’t great.
