Wild Ammonoosuc River: Swiftwater to Route 302

Unspecified • 2 mi • 0 ft

If the Ammonoosuc is too high for comfortable boating, or if you want new scenery, the Wild Ammonoosuc presents a short class II–III run. Starting at Swiftwater, where there’s a waterfall, the paddler can ease his way down among rocks and standing waves, never venturing far from a road. Although it has a steep gradient, the drop is averaged over the entire length, presenting a continuous, fast run where no rapids are difficult or require scouting. In high water the whole trip will turn into one long waterfall.
