Pattaconk Reservoir - Chester Connecticut Water Trails

Hidden away in Cockaponset State Forest in south-central Connecticut, Pattaconk Reservoir, a small but stunning undeveloped body of water, provides wonderful paddling. In a part of the state known more for tidal river paddling, Pattaconk offers a refreshing alternative with a real mountain pond feel to it. If you visit here in summer, you will see dozens of other people paddling, swimming, hiking, and off-road bicycling. If you prefer more solitude, paddle similar, but larger, nearby Messerschmidt Pond. Expect to see: forested hillsides, shrubby shoreline.
