I'm a beginner rider and thought the ride was challenging. If I lived in the area I would do the trail again. While there were not any "climbs" the rolling hills were tough for me. I didn't end up doing the entire trail because the road gets rough which challenged me more. I ended up doing 35 miles round trip. I probably would of pushed myself the entire way had I had anothe rider with me. I would recommend the trail, but not for a beginner. Drivers were respectful and I only had one guy to pull over and try talking to me. I just ignored him and kept pedaling. I never felt unsafe because there are enough houses/cars around. Jacksonville is a very cute town to visit.

Nice entry level trail. Great surface, but a little dusty this time of year. No climbs, just a rolling, mostly flat ride around Applegate Lake. The lake is very pretty with nice views of the foothills. A bonus to this ride is a dip in the lake after a hot dust ride.
