Windsor Trail - Santa Fe New Mexico Mountain Bike Trails

A wonderful downhill adventure along the Tesuque Creek drainage. A highly touted and very popular ride, the Windsor Trail is 10 miles of excellent, downhill singletrack through tall pine and aspen trees along beautiful Tesuque Creek. The ride starts at a staggering 10,300 feet above sea level and drops 3,400 feet in 10 miles to County Road 72A near the small town of Tesuque. The trail follows along the picturesque Tesuque Creek, starting out in dense pines and dropping down through stands of tall aspens into a small, open meadow filled with willows and wildflowers and ending in the piñon and juniper hills near Tesuque. The ride is popular as a downhill run and for good reason. Excellent singletrack; long downhills on smooth, fast tread; creek crossings; short technical sections; and did I mention you lose 3,400 feet of elevation in 10 miles! With popularity comes heavy use, and the Windsor Trail is starting to show signs of erosion and abuse. Trail surface: Singletrack with a short section of dirt roads.
