Huntsville State Park

A fun, fast course for riders of all levels, Huntsville is an East Texas biker’s playground. This place is loaded with lots of smooth singletrack covered with cushy pine needles, and the low swampy areas use boardwalks to keep you out of the muck. The trail at Huntsville State Park defies one of the main laws of physics in mountain biking: It seems that the number and degree of fun of downhill sections on this trail is not directly proportional to the number and degree of leg-burning climbs. In other words, you’ll feel like you’re spending more time riding downhill than you are climbing. The descents are long-and-fast stretches of mostly smooth singletrack that will have you hooting with unbridled glee, while the ascents are generally gradual enough to keep you from huffing too hard. Some climbs are crisscrossed with exposed tree roots, and some of the corners are sandy and washed out, but the course is technically easy enough for almost anyone to enjoy.
