Muleshoe Bend Trail - Austin Texas Mountain Bike Trails

What a sweet piece of Hill Country single-track. I love this trail; it’s not too hard and it is in a nice quiet woods. We’re out in the boonies here, boys and girls. A good place to relax, or to take your newbie friends, maybe. You will see signs of people blowing around laying down some serious skids, but I don’t see Muleshoe as that kind of place. I passed several hikers along this trail, and I wouldn’t want them to get the wrong idea. There are other places, back in the city, to rip. Leave this one in good shape when you go. Please? The name Muleshoe Bend comes from a bend in the Colorado River that you will ride near. The trail is on the finger of land that’s stuck into the bend. Weird—I lived in a place called Muleshoe, Texas, once. It’s much prettier here than there—in fact, it’s downright “tall cotton.” The park is actually called the Muleshoe Recreation Area by the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA), the land managers. The Texas Hill Country is one of those places where everyone wants to live. It’s the beautiful heart of Texas. Trails like this one are only a small reason for that, but a substantial one. Trails like Muleshoe are few and far between and should be savored and cherished. Good mountain bike trails don’t grow on cedar trees, they only come into existence a few at a time.
