Tahoe City Bike Paths

Located in the region west and northwest of Lake Tahoe are three popular paved bike paths: West Shore Bike Path, Truckee River Recreation Trail, and Dollar Point Trail. They’re sometimes collectively called the Tahoe City Bike Paths because they all radiate from the intersection of CA 28 and CA 89 in the bustling community of Tahoe City. And believe me, this is a busy intersection. During the summer, it’s a zoo of insane traffic and pedestrians, with cars crossing the bike path as they pull in and out of parking lots. Bumper-to-bumper traffic is a common occurrence. If you have youngsters riding with you, I suggest that you avoid pedaling through this intersection. Fortunately, several of the paved trails offer great riding without dealing with this mess.
