Ringwood State Park Trails

At 5,000 plus acres, Ringwood State Park is one of the larger tracts of public land in northeastern New Jersey. The fact that it can be described as “mountain-bike friendly” makes it even more attractive as an off-road cycling destination. In addition to the described route, many other trails are available for riding. Among these is the rugged singletrack racecourse maintained by a local cycling club. The English country-style mansion Skylands Manor, located in the northern section of the park, is modeled after an English estate home of 400 years ago. Tours are available here and at the park’s other country house, called Ringwood Manor. You can stop at the park office for detailed information about the park’s facilities. The New Jersey State Botanical Gardens occupy approximately 1,100 acres of the park. Although part of the described route passes through this area, cyclists must stay on the paved road indicated on the map. Off-road riding is strictly forbidden in this area. Seasonal hunting, swimming, and boating are among other recreational opportunities at Ringwood.
