Hanging Rock ORV Trail - Ironton Ohio Mountain Bike Trails

Located Wayne National Forest, about 10 miles north of Ironton. There are 26 miles of ORV trails to tackle at Hanging Rock--and "tackle" isn't a strong enough word. The Copperhead trail contains a steep downhill with several obscene moguls, curves, and ruts. You'll need to borrow technical skills to make it through this area, as it could be dangerous. Ride this only if you know what you're doing! Copperhead is just one of the nine trails that blanket the area. Since the trails are designed for ORV use, they are wide and you can pick up speed on many of them. But beware of potholes, ruts made by ORVs, and washouts. Multiple loop options are available to you as the trails connect to one another, so feel free to make a short loop or a long one. There are trails for all ability levels, but most of them are designated "moderate." The trails are well marked and even coded to their difficulty level. Hanging Rock, the trail that gives this area its name, is one of the steepest trails, especially on its west and east ends.
