Panorama Trails

A local secret since 1996, Panorama Trails is now open to the public as one of central Virginia’s premier mountain biking destinations, and perhaps one of the best in the entire state. Located minutes from Charlottesville on just under 900 acres of prime Blue Ridge real estate, Panorama Trails takes advantage of every contour of its sprawling farmland. More than 30 miles of sweet singletrack weave up and down Panorama’s rolling, pastoral terrain, through hay fields, open meadows, and mature hardwood forests; over creeks and streams; and alongside scenic lakes and the Rivanna River Reservoir. The scenery is nothing short of extraordinary as, with each turn in the trail, cyclists are treated to magnificent views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, which rise up against the western sky as a stunning backdrop to these groomed trails. Many of the trails at Panorama are ideal for beginners and intermediates. But the carefully designed, meticulously constructed, and well-maintained trail system serves up some serious challenges to even the most adventurous mountain bikers. Steep climbs, fast and rocky descents, roots, off-camber turns, and lots of long, uninterrupted loops will keep cyclists focused as they pedal along the myriad of trails that twist over hilly farmland.
