Point Reyes National Seashore: Palomarin Trailhead to Alamere Falls - Bolinas California Hikes

The trail from Palomarin on the southwestern edge of Point Reyes National Seashore takes you through coastal bluffs with Pacific views. Then it takes you through the shade of a Douglas fir forest, past streams and quiet lily-covered ponds. There are two lakes on the featured hike, four if you plan to hike at low tide. The highlight of this hike is 50-foot Alamere Falls. During low tide, you can take the beach all the way back. Otherwise, you travel back the way you came. Bring plenty of water, binoculars for marine and coastal wildlife, and a long-sleeved shirt, pants, and Technu if you take the narrow poison oak–laden path to the falls from the Coast Trail, which is definitely worth it if the tide is high. Weather is changeable. This eTrail also includes suggested nearby attractions, camping & lodging, restaurants, and local outdoor retailers.
