Greenwich, CT - Greenwich Connecticut

Plush with green lawns and magnificent hardwood shade trees in the summertime, Greenwich presents one of the state’s prettiest pictures of life along the Connecticut shore. One of the largest groups of islands on the Sound hugs closely to the town’s coves and harbors, and sailboats and yachts cruising offshore add to the aura of wealth and leisure that is firmly anchored to this affluent suburb. Located just 29 miles from Times Square with views of the New York City skyline from its beaches, Greenwich provides posh shelter for about 60,000 residents who take great pride in the rarefied ambiance of their coastal enclave. The varied interests and talents of its residents have enriched the prestigious town, which offers travelers perhaps the best dining options in the state, the most upscale shopping, and a state-of-the-art natural history and art museum. Best known for these features and for its multimillion-dollar homes, Greenwich also offers much more than glitz. Adding to Greenwich’s riches are its most beautiful assets: More than 1,500 acres of the town’s 50 square miles are rolling hills and verdant woodlands preserved as parkland. In addition, counting the perimeters of its islands, the quirky twists of its coves, and the banks of its estuaries, the town claims 32 miles of shoreline. Although nearly all the coastal area and much of the woods is privately owned or reserved for the use of Greenwich residents, there is still much that visitors can share in this top-drawer community. This eTrail includes detailed descriptions of the best things to do in Greenwich, places to eat and places to stay, boat excursions and charters, and sources of additional information.
