Wynoochee Lakeshore Trail - Montesano Washington Mountain Bike Trails

The singletrack around Wynoochee Lake is 12 miles long and moderately difficult. There are some steep climbs, and pushing your bike will be necessary in several places. Some segments of the trail are technically demanding, while others are smooth and wide. The trail becomes exacting as it nears the north end of the reservoir. Obstacles like roots and rocks are more common, and the path switchbacks through some drainages. In places, the singletrack narrows and drops off steeply to the side. The trail crosses the Wynoochee River at the north end of the reservoir. There is no bridge, so you must ford the river to continue the loop. The scenery is lovely; the best views are at the south end of the lake. The trail offers glimpses of Anderson Ridge to the east and the Olympics to the north. Wynoochee Lakeshore Trail winds through a dense forest and past some magnificent old-growth specimens of Douglas fir and western hemlock. Call ahead for current trail conditions; the Forest Service is planning to realign the trail and build a footbridge over the Wynoochee River.
