Pohick Bay Regional park

"Pohick" was the name given this area by Algonquin Indians to aptly describe it as the "water place." With its marina, boat launch, and boat storage facilities, Pohick Bay Regional park offers a year-round haven for boaters looking for access to the Potomac River, just 25 miles south of Washington, D.C. in Fairfax County. Those without a boat can choose from the park's rental of pedal boats, sailboats, and jon boats. However, even landlubbers will find its 150 campsites a great place to sleep under the trees while leaving northern Virginia's traffic jams behind. There are probably those purists who would dismiss camping in a facility that also features 18-hole golf and Frisbee golf courses, expansive playing fields, and boating facilities. However, everybody is entitled to their own definition of back to nature, and northern Virginians shouldn't have to spend the better part of a weekend driving to find a campsite when they've got some pretty dandy ones right in their own backyard.
