Worth the Money
Smartwool = quality and this base layer has been worth every penny. I went to an REI store looking for thin long underwear for summer use that I could wear under my armored motorcycling pants which can feel like wearing a wet burlap sack when you sweat in them. The salesperson that helped me recommended these and I loved them immediately. These are thin, very thin, I am able to wear them under tight jeans comfortably. I am 5'10, 32" inseam, 160 and purchased a large which fit perfectly.Unfortunately the thing I love most about them, their thinness, is why I gave them one con, if you're not careful pulling them on you can rip them. They kept me cool all summer and I have also worn them all winter where they kept me very warm. They are holding up well and should easily last another year. Like a previous reviewer stated they are also good looking. I have the grey which is not see-through and would feel free to wear them walking around camp if you're not too self-conscious. I will not hesitate to buy another pair.

Don't want to take them off...
I commute by bicycle to work approx 25-30 miles/day and needed a warm, well-fitting covering for my legs with dresses and skirts. These are sold as a base layer, but fit the bill perfectly. Other than a seam that runs along the inside of the leg, they look just like opaque tights. They fit well with no baggy leg problem by the end of the day. They keep me warm even on very wet days. I love the new wide waistband--so much more comfortable than the old one. They are expensive, but depending on how many winters they last, my opinion about that may change.
