Excellent Multi-Purpose Shoe
To preface, my feet are about average width, but I have higher than normal arches. After trying most others in the store nothing compared to the support, comfort, breathability, and grip of this shoe. Prior to going on an 80mile backpacking trip with this shoe I took it on one three mile trail run. I've been buying Salomon trail shoes with one exception for like 10 years, and the exception was a mistake, so I'm back to Salomon. These shoes are great and wear well. The tread on the wings is nice especially in that it has nice grip, but is not so detailed as to be hard to clean or pick up lots of rocks.

bought these shoes for trail running at garden of the gods and other locations in IL's shawnee national forest. they fit and felt great right out of the box. took them on a 10 mile run the first day and they performed great. i will update this review once i log somemore miles on them, but i have used salomon shoes for about 6 years, so i pretty much know what to expect(the best). these new xt wings doesn't seem to be a exception.as for rei, great service as always. got them in 2 days with the free shipping option. shoes seemed to be free from defects.
