The lightweight and agile Salomon XA Comp 6 GTX trail-running shoes deliver superb traction on varying terrain. Gore-Tex protection keeps feet protected from the elements. Synthetic leather and nylon mesh uppers are water resistant, durable and lightweight; synthetic overlays deliver a secure, supportive fit across insteps. Asymmetric Quickfit™ lacing system takes just a single pull for an exact fit; lace pocket hides lacing away. Protective toe caps resist abrasion to uppers and protect toes from bumps. Gore-Tex® waterproof liners let feet breathe while protecting them from the elements, keeping them dry and comfortable. Nylon linings wick moisture away from your feet to keep them comfortable. Washable OrthoLite® foam insoles enhance comfort. Midsole design offers dual-density EVA padding for excellent neutral cushioning and rebound through your entire stride. Nonmarking Contagrip® rubber outsoles on the Salomon XA Comp 6 GTX trail-running shoes deliver optimal performance on mixed terrain and sloppy trail conditions.

Look good, but not comfortable

I purchased these wanting a water proof running/hiking shoe. They looked nice and fit ok when I tried them on in the store. Upon wearing these shoes around the house for a couple hours, they felt restrictive around the front part of the foot and became extremely uncomfortable. The heel also feels fairly high and the front part of the shoe feels like it has no cushioning. I was able to exchange these for some merrells, no questions asked by REI. What I lost in style I gained in comfort(they were just not as attractive as the salomons).I also wanted to add that I tried on other goretex/waterproof salomons and they all felt exactly the same. Until salomon gets their act together they will not be getting any of my money!
