Salewa Alp Trainer Mid Gore-Tex Hiking Shoes - Men's

I ordered theses after using the salewa mountain rapace and realizing they were too warm for summer/ spring hikes. I wore these around the pine barrens several times but I really tested them the past few weeks. I did a mountain climb in the sognefjord region of Norway and they held up to the very steep and often muddy terrain of the Norwegian summer melt season. Immediately after that hike I went fishing in the north sea during some nasty weather. Just like the mountain climb everyone else's feet were soaked and mine were nice and dry. The boat was ankle deep at some points yet my feet were perfectly dry at the conclusion of our 8 hour steam. I highly recomend these boots as I pushed their limits for about a week straight and they were bullet proof

Not available in my local REI store, I bought from the web without trying them on for fit. The first pair had two problems; the toe-box was narrow and the topmost speed-lace dug into my angle. Exchanged for a replacement pair, same model, same size ... no problems with the replacement pair.With almost no break-in at all, I wore these for a couple weeks of day-hiking at Olympic National Park, including two nasty bushwhacks, one very steep and the other very boot-sucking muddy. These boots handled everything well.
