not worth it

Comments about dewclaws should not be ignored - these must have been designed to inflict pain on dewclaws. If you dog has them, best to avoid unless the booties stop way below the claw My dog wore these for about 10 hours on day 2 of a tough backpacking trip. They surely avoided some pad damage from tough scree fields, but beyond the dewclaw damage they also keep the pad soaking wet and raw. We decided to remove the booties from both dogs after the worst was over, but had to wait an hour for their pads to dry before proceeding on raw pads. Worst of all, 10 hours of use and the stitching failed, there is a one inch hole in 2 of the booties. Total junk, avoid. My dog is pretty rugged, spends plenty of time on trails and has very tough feet, the booty purchase was for some unusually tough terrain. Look for something cheaper that just provides a little extra protection, rather than a gimmicky vibram sole which is extremely uncomfortable when it turns at any angle at all (whic

Somone finally got it right!

I have been seeking the ultimate solution to the torn, bleeding pads that my dog gets on routine hikes. I was skeptical about the design of these as some other brands that I had tried did not stay on well. I did a few test runs, first putting just the front ones on and letting my dog get used to them and then just the back two. While he was resistant at first, he got used to them and took off like the Tazmanian devil! It's important to make sure they are on very tight almost to the point that it seems uncomfortable or they will come off. After wearing them for a bit, they mold to the dog's feet and I had no concerns that they would come off. My only concern is that the fabric shoe will wear out before the sole as they already showed some wear and tear after one 8 mile hike. Luckily they are machine washable but I fear this will also shorten their life span. I would recommend these as my dog is so thrilled to be able to hike for hours without batterin

Tough but slip off easily

These boots are great at protecting our German Shepherds feet from the hot and rocky terrain around Phoenix. Unfortunately we constantly have to watch his feet because they like to slip off. Normally we can find them with a little back tracking but we finally lost one for good the other day.

irritates du-claws

the boots irritated my dogs du-claws. after hiking just 3 miles, my dogs du-claws were red and raw. the boots sit right below the du-claw. if your dog has his du-claws, you may want to reconsider getting a high-top boot rather than these low boots.

Changed Sizing

I have used these boots for years. However, they changed the sizing and made the boots shorter, they kept the same width. For big dogs this is an issue, they won't stay on, see review May 20, 2013. Ruff Wear, you screwed up a perfect product.
