Description

Rossignol BC X11 75mm Backcountry Ski Boot

The Rossignol BC X11 75mm backcountry ski boots let you get off the beaten path and make turns in untouched terrain. BC X11 boots are a great match for the lightweight metal-edged, no-wax skis designed for backcountry tours in deep snow. Custom thermal-moldable inner liner can be heated up and molded to your foot for a custom fit that greatly enhances comfort; see an REI ski shop professional for a fitting. 75mm sole is compatible with 3-pin bindings and telemark cable bindings. Neoprene lace cover flexes easily with your foot and keeps snow and ice out of the boot. Inner locking lace system and 2 ratcheting buckles let you fine-tune the fit for touring and downhill skiing. Plastic cuff enhances torsional stability for good performance while turning.

So Far, So Good...

These were purchased to replace another manufacturer's pair of similar boots that failed after only 100mi of skiing. With only 20mi of skiing in them it's too early to comment on durability, hence the 4 star rating.I have a wide foot, so am forced to get a size larger for boots like these with a normal width. Fortunately, I have not had issues with heel blisters, after about 20mi of skiing in them. I did get one tender spot on the shin, but that was probably self-inflicted by having the straps too tight. The boot is a little too stiff for classic track skiing in good snow and is a little too soft for telemark in difficult snow. The boots are best for touring in firm/icy conditions (groomed/ungroomed), when paired with metal-edged skis. I do like the fact the sole is torsional stiff, compared to other BC boots I have used (both 75mm and NNN-BC). This really helps set the ski edges in turns and stopping. It takes a while to get used to the funky buckle release on the straps - push the edges
