Coleman Monterey 6 Tent Review

Coleman Monterey 6 Tent Review
The Coleman Monterey 6 tent is a spacious 6-person, 3-season tent. At 14-by-8 feet and 73 inches tall the Monterey 6 has plenty of room to fit the whole family. Coleman's WeatherTec system guarantees to keep you dry by incorporating leak-free sealed seams, water wicking coated polyester fabric, and a heavy duty waterproof floor. Also, the Monterey 6 has the Variflow venting system so fresh air will move freely through the tent. With two large doors and windows it is easy to get in and out. And for $99 (in 2009) the Monterey 6 is a functional family tent at an affordable price.

Perks

Coleman developed a small door at the lower corner of the Monterey 6 tent that can be used to access gear, for ventilation or as a dog door for small dogs so you don't have to get out of bed to let them out. Also, the Monterey 6 has a hinged door that allows easy access without having to unzip the door.

Sacrifices

Due to Coleman's superior ventilation system, during extreme rain storms water will leak through some of the the air ducts under the fly and make puddles on the floor. Also, the poles are very flexible allowing the tent walls to become compacted during wind storms and make sleep near impossible.

Bottom Line

The Coleman Monterey 6 is a great tent for families looking for a cheap alternative for camping trips. It does not have the durability or quality as some of the top-end companies but has unique, functional features that are great for camping.
