Perks
The tent has a built-in ground sheet, giving you one less necessity to carry. Fossil Creek models also feature a hinged, semi-rigid door. The tent is well quite well ventilated, and features a small port for an extension cord if you want to utilize electrical appliances in the tent. The poles are standardized, so are easily replaced if broken or lost.
Sacrifices
This is NOT an all weather tent. While the WeatherTec waterproofing is excellent, the ventilation of the tent makes it inappropriate for cold-weather camping. This is a casual comfort tent, not a winter tent. The tent also only features one interior storage sac, which is limiting. While the tent's weight varies between sizes, all the models are heavier than comparable backpacking tents from manufacturers such as MSR.
Bottom Line
A decent tent for beginners and youngsters. Because of its weight, especially in the larger sizes, it is better for car camping and backyard camping than back country hiking.
