The North Face Solo Tent Review

The North Face Solo Tent Review
The North Face Solo tent is the lightest and most durable tent on the market. Using DAC Featherlite aluminum poles and silicone coated nylon materials, the Solo was developed to withstand winds of 95 miles per hour and monsoon-type rain. The Fusion pitch with ultralight MicroClip technology allows you to set it up and take it down easily. And with a weight of 2.2 lbs. and compressed stuff size of 23-by-5 inches, the Solo is small enough to fit in your day pack. The Solo, which cost $199 in 2009, offers superb performance for avid campers.

Perks

The North Face Solo tent was designed to protect you against the worst weather conditions nature has to throw at you, but it also has a great ventilation system. Using overhead and perimeter vents, The North Face has developed a high-low airflow, allowing air to flow freely through the tent even in adverse weather conditions.

Sacrifices

Because of the Solo's lightweight design, it is missing some of the perks of some of its competitors. There is not much storage room in the Solo. It has a small vestibule that won't fit a large backpack, and it has few pockets in the tent for gear.

Bottom Line

The North Face Solo tent is the best one-person backpacking tent on the market. Because of its high price and lack of storage room, the Solo is recommended only for the avid backpacker who ventures out in extreme conditions.
