Perks
One of the Grand Mesa's advantages is its incredible value. At just $139 (as of 2009), the Grand Mesa offers a number of features found in more expensive tents. Mesh is included on all sides for ventilation and the tent contains interior pockets for easy organization. Especially simple is set up, which takes only two poles and is even color-coded so friends unfamiliar with your tent can help set it up.
Sacrifices
While Grand Mesa is designed for two, don't expect a lot of elbow room for larger campers. While ventilation is solid, mesh only partially makes up each wall, limiting the Grand Mesa's use for star-gazing.
Bottom Line
The Kelty Grand Mesa is most useful for the casual backpacker looking for a good value. It's a little too heavy for ultralight packers however.
