Perks
Unlike their competitors, Kelty designed the Crestone 2 to meet the comfort and storage needs of two backpackers. The Crestone has two large doors so occupants won't have to climb over each other to get out of the tent. Also with two vestibules at 7 square feet, there is plenty of room for each occupant's pack and shoes.
Sacrifices
Due to the lightweight design, the Crestone 2 has a sloping angle with a 40-inch height on one end and a 20-inch height on the other causing difficulties placing two sleeping pads in the tent and decreasing either leg room or head room. Also when the rain fly is on, the Crestone does not allow airflow like the backpacking tents of Sierra Designs and REI do.
Bottom Line
Although the Kelty Crestone 2 does not feature some of the bells and whistles of competing brands, the lightweight design and low price make it a useable and reasonable tent for any backpacker.
