La Sportiva Spantik Boots Review

La Sportiva Spantik Boots Review
The LaSportiva Spantik Boot weighs in at just over five pounds per pair and is a double plastic mountaineering boot designed to withstand sub-zero temperatures. Complete with a Vibram sole, the Spantik features the Fast Lacing System using only a single lace. The inner boot is heat moldable for a custom fit and compliments the aluminum reflective coating on the outer boot designed to generate more warmth. The insole is partially made of carbon fiber, accounting for the light weight of the overall boot. There is a built-in gaiter meant to add an extra layer of insulation and keep spindrift out.

Perks

The Fast Lacing System makes it easy to put your Spantiks on while wearing gloves and the lightness of the boots overall make long days more bearable. The boots are fully crampon-compatible.

Sacrifices

The laces on the Fast Lacing System are prone to break. Order additional sets and carry them with you when you are wearing the boots. They are not as flexible as other double boots, either.

Bottom Line

The LaSportiva Spantik Boot is not only one of the lightest double plastic mountaineering boots on the market, but it is comfortable to wear with easy-on and easy-off lacing. They will last you for years and if you are prone to cold feet, they are an especially sound choice.
