Review of the Big Agnes Sunnyside Tent

Review of the Big Agnes Sunnyside Tent
The Big Agnes Sunnyside 2 tent is a free-standing, two-person tent that's designed for three-season use. The tent body is made of nylon mesh, with two doors and 36 square feet of interior space. The Sunnyside 2 weighs 5 lbs., 2 oz., including a rain fly, Yunan 7001 aluminum poles and vestibules. The rain fly and nylon floor are waterproofed with polyurethane coating and seam-sealed. The tent body and rain fly use a clip system to reduce weight and add strength.

Perks

Setting up the Sunnyside 2 is a breeze. The tent has just two cross poles that the body easily snaps to. The body and rain fly are all seam-sealed for waterproof protection, and the bathtub floor is polyurethane-coated to keep you dry. Two doors and two vestibules make entering and exiting hassle free while giving you plenty of room to store your gear. The Sunnyside 2 comes with a lifetime warranty from Big Agnes.

Sacrifices

The Sunnyside 2 is 90 inches long, but sloping sidewalls prevent full use of the space, especially near the floor. The vestibules of the tent must be closed during rain, leaving you without a view and with limited ventilation. The tent also comes with enough stakes for a basic set-up but require more for a full set-up. A user manual is not provided.

Bottom Line

The Big Agnes Sunnyside 2 tent is a smart buy for campers looking for a lightweight, weatherproof tent for two. Its fast and easy two-pole set-up, durable rain fly and waterproofed floor make three-season camping comfortable. With the dual entrances, two-person camping is easy and uncrowded.
