Perks
With only two poles, each of color-coded aluminum, the Kelty Grand Mesa 2 sets up easily--under 5 minutes after a little practice. Most of all, the Kelty Grand Mesa is a great deal, providing a solid backpacking tent that packs down tight.
Sacrifices
One of the limitations that comes with the Kelty's light weight is a relatively narrow footprint. It will easily fit most campers, but may be a little cramped for larger hikers. While the rain fly offers excellent coverage from the rain, the vestibule is less generous, barely accommodating backpacks.
Bottom Line
The Kelty Grand Mesa is an exceptional backpacking pick for those seeking value. It combines ease-of-use and light weight. While it has its weaknesses, the Grand Mesa is an all-around winner.
