Flexible Flyer Sled Review

Flexible Flyer Sled Review
The Flexible Flyer is a classic steel runner sled. The Flexible Flyer is recognizable by its trademark fire-engine red runners and wooden decking. The sled deck has the offical Flexible Flyer logo--an eagle with wings spread and centered on a red arrow. The classic Flexible Flyer comes in several models, including from smallest to largest: the 1042 Flexible Flyer, 1048 Flexible Flyer, 1054 Flexible Flyer and 1060 Flexible Flyer. The dimensions range from 42" to 60" in length. The weight of the four models ranges from 11 lbs. to 14 lbs.

Perks

The Flexible Flyer is a name-brand classic sled. The image of being on a Flexible Flyer is the whole advantage this sled has over other steel runner sleds. The Flexible Flyer is great for photographs and porch decorating. It is also a favorite purchase of parents at Christmas time and fits well under a Christmas tree.

Sacrifices

The Flexible Flyer sled functions best in icy or crusty snow conditions. It doesn't move at all in powder of any kind. The Flexible Flyer can be steered by foot or hand, although the steering control is not as good as some other steel runner sleds on the market.

Bottom Line

The Flexible Flyer is a classic sled that has a brand impact like Coca-Cola--it looks good in a photo and it's cool to have one. For a fun child's Christmas gift, buy a Flexible Flyer.
