Garmin C580 GPS Review

Garmin C580 GPS Review
The Garmin StreetPilot c580 GPS is a automotive navigation system with preloaded maps and turn-by-turn directions. The c580 features an MP3 player, anti-theft feature, and SD card slot for extended space. It also features hands-free calling with integrated Bluetooth technology to improve safety on the roadway. With a display size of 2.8 by 2.1 inches (3.5 inches diagonal), the StreetPilot c580 will fit easily on your dashboard to fit your navigational needs. And at just 9 oz. it can easily be carried with you.

Perks

Known for their innovative navigational functions, Garmin integrated an MSN Direct receiver into the c580. This provides real-time traffic updates and weather conditions and allows you to compare local gas prices and check movie times and locations.

Sacrifices

Although the MSN Direct capabilities are nice, it usually takes more than 10 minutes to acquire them causing you to get stuck in traffic before you get the real-time traffic conditions. Also, the preloaded map is out of date and new maps cost around $100 (in 2009).

Bottom Line

The Garmin c580 has a well functioning navigation system and helpful features to simplify travel. The retail price is $499 (in 2009) but can be found for less than $250 (in 2009). This GPS is recommended for any driver looking for great navigation who is willing to spend some extra bucks on advanced features.
