Sierra Sirius 2 Tent Review

Sierra Sirius 2 Tent Review
The Sierra Designs Sirius 2 tent is designed with lightweight yet durable materials to make it the perfect three-season backpacking tent. Sierra Designs uses 40D nylon taffeta material and aluminum DAC press-fit poles to minimize the tent's weight. Setup of the tent is also a breeze with Sierra Designs' two-pole design with swift clips and swivel hubs. At only 4 lbs. 2 oz. and a pack size of 23 by 6 inches, the Sirius 2 tent is ideal for extended backpacking trips.

Perks

Sierra Designs developed a three-quarter fly for minimal weight that features vestibules for dry storage. The Sirius 2 tent is one of the few small backpacking tents on the market that has two doors so that you don't have to climb over your partner in the middle of the night. Also, the Sirius 2 is equipped with a 70D nylon SuperSeal floor with raised side beams to prevent flooding during the most extreme storms.

Sacrifices

Due to Sierra Designs' lightweight design, the Sirius 2 tent is a very tight fit for two adults. At only 33 square feet, the Sirius 2 is a better fit for one person than the recommended two. Although the three-quarter fly minimizes weight and size, it does not hold up in intense rainstorms.

Bottom Line

The Sirius 2 tent is a quality, lightweight backpacking tent. And for $159, it is a great deal compared with similar competitors' tents. This tent is recommended for longer backpacking trips where extreme rainstorms are not projected.
