Review on Asolo Gore-Tex Hiking Boots
Manufactured by Asolo, the Women's Atlantis GTX boot is a waterproof, light three-season hiking and backpacking boot. It's not insulated but weighs in at only 2lb. 5oz. for size 6.5, coming in women's sizes 6 to 11. The Atlantis GTX is lined with Gore-Tex and the upper is made of water resistant suede leather and nylon---and its lacing is reinforced with metal hardwear. The outsoles are made of Matrix rubber; the midsoles, EVA. The Atlantis GTX is made in China and ranges in price from $133 to $209. It comes in three colors: light blue/light grey, wool/tortora and graphite/gunmetal.

Perks

The Asolo Atlantis is made with active shock-absorbing heel support and waffled sole with Aso-brake technology for great traction when headed downhill or on varied rugged terrain. These boots are made with a three quarter length shank so they are stiff enough for light backpacking trips but not as stiff as expedition or mountaineering boots. Laces are long enough and the tongue is built in, reducing debris that gets into the boot.

Sacrifices

They hold up to a lot of wear and tear but don't necessarily protect the foot on the inside at first. They take a while to break into and for someone with a prominent heel, inserting a small cushion at the back may be necessary to prevent discomfort against the fairly hard heel pocket. They run a bit long and narrow compared to other hiking boot brands.

Bottom Line

Once these boots are broken in, they hold up well, provide great support for hiking and three season backpacking, and they may just be the perfect boot for someone with narrow feet.
