Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight Tent Review

Sierra Designs Clip Flashlight Tent Review
Designed for two, the Clip Flashlight weighs in at under 4 pounds, making it a lightweight option for backpackers. A simple two-pole construction makes setup easy. The Clip Flashlight also has 32 square feet of interior space and a 43- inch height. To minimize weight, this tent has only one door and a tapering design that makes the back of the tent narrower and lower than the front, suitable only for feet. This means that the Clip Flashlight is best used for sleeping, it's simply too narrow and sloped for socializing. Nevertheless, the construction is light and airy, with a fully mesh roof and a rain fly that provides a generous vestibule.

Perks

The Clip Flashlight benefits from clean design and practical features. The current model has stronger poles and a stiffer frame that maximizes interior space. The rounded design makes the Clip Flashlight stand strong against wind. The tent feels slim enough to stay light but roomy enough to sit up in.

Sacrifices

While the Clip Flashlight is roomy for one, it can be cramped for two, particularly if one of the sleepers is larger. While the two-pole design makes for quick set up, the reliance on stakes means that the Clip Flashlight cannot be used on ground too hard for stakes. In other words, its useless on scenic cliff-tops.

Bottom Line

An all-around tent with some limitations, the Clip Flashlight is a worthy pick that will serve you well for years. It goes up easy, makes for a comfortable shelter and packs tight enough to be squished into any backpacking arrangement.
