Atomic Nomad Renu Ski Review

Atomic Nomad Renu Ski Review
Nomad Renu skis feature an environmentally conscious, all-mountain design that utilizes a wood-pellet heating system for factory ski presses. The ash and nutwood wooden core replaces aluminum components or titanium laminates. Fifty percent of the material used for the ski surface and coating is recycled, and epoxy resin and fiberglass is 30 percent less than normal skis. Other specifications include three sizes, with lengths of 168/177/186cm, waist width of 93mm on each model, tail width of 118/120.1/122mm and a radius of 17/18/19m.

Perks

Atomic has set the standard for environmentally conscious ski production. By changing the manner in which Nomad Renu skis are produced Atomic leaves a smaller carbon footprint than many of its competitors. Also, these skis have a great retro look to them, devoid of the flashy, bright-colored designs seen on models by other makers.

Sacrifices

Nomad Renu skis are advertised as all-mountain--and certainly qualify for on or off piste skiing--but tend to ride a little slower than most modern skis. If being purchased for recreational skiing, this model is an excellent choice. For competition-oriented skiers, however, the Nomad Renu may not give the necessary extra advantage .

Bottom Line

The Atomic Nomad Renu is an excellent ski for recreational use that combines an all-purpose design with one of the most environmentally sound products in its class.
