Perks
The thick sole on the Explorer GTX allows for easy travel over uneven ground. The tongue is connected to the upper material of the shoe, keeping dirt and debris away from hard working feet and increasing waterproof ability. The double lock on the laces allows the user to create a custom fit depending on sport and weather conditions.
Sacrifices
The double lace lock means that the shoes can lock down too tight, cutting off circulation to the feet. The thick rubber sole can lead to a heavy, clumsy feeling toward the end of a long day.
Bottom Line
The Salomon Explorer GTX shoes can put up with a variety of activities and sustain a lot of hard use. They are surprisingly lightweight for such a heavy-duty design.
