Review of Salomon Shoes

Review of Salomon Shoes
The Salomon Women's Explorer GTX Trekking shoe is designed to stay comfortable and sturdy during heavy-duty outdoor use. The pair weighs 2 lb., 4 oz. The thick, ContraGrip soles are made from a custom blend of rubbers. The upper shoe is a blend of tough suede and breathable, water-resistant synthetic fabric. The rubber toe box acts as a mud guard and a stub protector. The shoe extends over the ankle. The lacing system has two locks built in, one over the arch of the foot and one at the top of the shoe.

Perks

The thick sole on the Explorer GTX allows for easy travel over uneven ground. The tongue is connected to the upper material of the shoe, keeping dirt and debris away from hard working feet and increasing waterproof ability. The double lock on the laces allows the user to create a custom fit depending on sport and weather conditions.

Sacrifices

The double lace lock means that the shoes can lock down too tight, cutting off circulation to the feet. The thick rubber sole can lead to a heavy, clumsy feeling toward the end of a long day.

Bottom Line

The Salomon Explorer GTX shoes can put up with a variety of activities and sustain a lot of hard use. They are surprisingly lightweight for such a heavy-duty design.
