Coleman Red Family Tent Review

Coleman Red Family Tent Review
The Coleman Red Canyon family tent is a spacious, three-room, three-season tent that sleeps eight adults comfortably. Coleman's Weathertec system combines coated polyester material with taped seams, cuffed zippers and an inverted tarplike polyethylene floor to guarantee a dry camping experience. At 17-by-10 feet and 72-inch peak height, the Red Canyon is large enough for the whole family and all their gear. Also, mesh windows and doors allow plenty of air flow for hot summer nights even with the fly on. And for $90 (in 2009), the Red Canyon family tent will not break the bank.

Perks

Coleman uses ultrastrong fiberglass poles to develop a sturdy frame for the Red Canyon tent with only a 4-pole design, so it doesn't take an engineer to assemble. Also, the Red Canyon includes removable walls, so you have the option of one large room or three separate rooms for privacy.

Sacrifices

Due to Coleman's sturdy and spacious design, the Red Canyon tent is bulky and heavy, making it hard to carry and pack in your car. Also, it requires a lot of room to set up and extend the stakes. Most campground spots are too small for the Red Canyon tent.

Bottom Line

The Red Canyon tent by Coleman has most of the perks of its competitors' family tents at half the cost. Although it may be hard to find a spot for it, the Red Canyon is a great buy for a family tent.
