Review of Scott Fly Rods

Zach Lazzari

Scott Fly Rods are traditionally high-performance rods that are suited to the experienced angler. Scott also manufactures rods that are useful for beginning and intermediate anglers. The S4 series is one of the best all-round trout rods on the market, while the A2 is good for the price. Scott makes a variety of rods that are suited to most flyfishing situations. The X2s is one of the best fast-action saltwater rods on the market, and the T2H has the power to spey cast across large rivers. Scott fly rods are constructed of fine blanks, and they are built with some of the nicest components in the industry.

Perks

The benefit of a Scott Fly Rod is the quality in design. All of the Scott rods are built on medium-fast and fast action blanks. They are designed to move fly line quickly and to make delicate presentations. The saltwater rods have a corrosion resistant finish, and all of the rods are durable. The quality of the components is outstanding, and the rods are sold with a lifetime warranty.

Sacrifices

With the A3 being the exception, Scott rods come with a high price tag. The A3 retails at $295 for a two-piece as of November 2009, while the high-performance S4 retails at $695 for a four-piece rod. The high price tag is a sacrifice for the lifetime warranty.

Bottom Line

Scott Fly Rods are a top seller because they are fantastic rods. Scott is an American-made company that is located in Montrose, Colorado. Scott has a great reputation because of its quality products and great customer service.
