A Coleman Villa Del Mar Tent Review

A Coleman Villa Del Mar Tent Review
The Coleman Villa Del Mar is a large standard dome tent. It stands 75 inches tall and measures 11 feet by 13 feet. Its trail weight is approximately 22 lb., which makes it more of a campsite and RV tent than a backcountry tent. It has a vented roof and comes with a detachable rain fly and a bathtub-style waterproofed floor. The tent also features a built-in doormat and an access flap for power cables. This tent, manufactured in China for Coleman, is exclusively available through Wal-Mart stores.

Perks

The tent is roomy and expansive and excellent for families and groups. While it can easily sleep seven average adults, it can sleep several more if the campers are children. The dome structure makes setup and take-down easy, and the Coleman brand insures that parts are easily replaced under warranty for 5 years. The tent's vent structure and rain fly mean that the tent breathes well in most weather.

Sacrifices

While this tent is marketed as a three-season tent, it is really most useful for warm-weather camping. The open rain fly design means the tent is vulnerable to moderate and higher winds.

Bottom Line

This is a perfectly satisfactory tent for holidays at public campsites, or as an add-on to RV camping. Its weight and size mean that it is not appropriate for backcountry camping. The weatherproofing will not hold up to harsh weather.
