Perks
The Rs3 line of rods come with burl wood reel seat on the freshwater models while the saltwater models have an anodized aluminum reel seat. These burgundy-colored rods come with silver trim and comfortable high-grade cork handles. The guide layout on these rods works well for shooting long casts.
Sacrifices
While the wooden reel seats offer a handsome finish to the Rs3 fly rods, they do not lock down the fly reel securely. The fighting butt on the 9- and 10-weight rods is too short; this does not provide enough leverage when fighting large fish.
Bottom Line
The Rs3 fly rods from Redington are easy to fly cast and fish with all day. With all the models available, there is an Rs3 to suit the needs of virtually any fly-fishing application.
